Government Services

ProVision provides experienced people with Information Technology and Business Management skills. Through our recruitment, consulting and relationship management efforts we focus on delivering qualified resources and project results to the people that we work with.  We are a multiple Vendor of Record holder for Legacy IT,  Task IT and Business and Management-based services for the Ontario Public Sector (OPS), as well as for several broader public sector (BPS) organizations.

Our success with the OPS dates back to 1991, and we have enjoyed working with a number of Clusters and Ministries including: MOHLTC, MCSS, MNR, MOE, MCBS, Finance, MBS, MEDT, iSERV, as well as various agencies and not-for-profit organizations.  We’ve participated in supporting various province-wide initiatives/programs providing key resources to several, including: IFIS, ePhysician, PHCP, UIMS, SDMT, HBSASB, LIO and ORION.

Recent Government assignments include:

Senior Project Manager
Management of an external consultant performing a technical architecture assessment of a large, complex, custom built application. Under a tight timeline of 2 months, this work required interviews and workshops with a multitude of Ministry staff, within a 6 week timeframe. The assessment covered 4 architectures: Application, Information, Technology, Security, and the IT processes used by the Ministry. The project resulted in a set of recommendations that, when implemented, will improve the cost of ownership, the ability to make change, and increased flexibility of the system.

ITIL Policy Analyst
A resource to develop and document ITIL Processes and Procedures required by the Office of the CIO to manage and control the services provided to corporate staff. This applied to new and existing services within the corporate environment. Additionally, the Office of the CIO required the documentation of procedures as defined within approved Corporate Policies.

Security Assessment and Architecture
A Provincial Ministry requested expertise in threat risk assessment, network security architecture, design and implementation. Our consultant provided this and transferred knowledge of assessment methodology and tools application, which was well received and consequently adopted in part by other Ministry clusters.

Senior Project Manager
Responsible for developing and maintaining a detailed project plan for the Municipal Infrastructure Self-Management Project.

Enabling Technology Strategy
A Ministry health group required Business Analysis, development and technical architecture for the ETS (Enabling Technology Strategy), which aims to put technology (network connection, firewall and PC) into 12,000 Public Health stakeholder organizations so that they can access Public Health communication services quickly and effectively.

Application Architecture and Mentoring
ProVision was tasked to help a Ministry move legacy applications to a service oriented architectural framework.  This involved .Net architecture, design and development of enterprise level ASP.NET applications.  In developing a Ministry adoption of the ASP.NET framework, that includes all aspects of user interaction: flow control, navigation, layouts and event handling, we mentored architecture, design and development personnel in structural aspects of this new architecture.

Business / Application Architecture
ProVision reviewed business requirements, established business drivers and performed a design audit to assess the implemented design and prescribed recommendations for a Pan Canadian health organization. The assignment involved the provision of in–depth J2EE architecture, design guidance and leadership, andl assisted and mentored developers in Java/J2EE best practices.

Utility Information Management System (UIMS) Plan Integration
ProVision was selected to perform as Project Management and Plan Integrator for the province wide Utility Information Management System (UIMS) transition. This transition will have 4 major streams of activities of which our consultant identified, tracked and reported progress on interdependencies.

Organizational Change Management and Design
ProVision provided organizational change management and design within a complex PeopleSoft ERP implementation project.  This not for profit professional association was able to undergo a significant improvement in its ability to manage its administrative processes as a result of this implementation.
